Flybe flights to Amsterdam have been rerouted from Dundee to Edinburgh.

The service, which flies six times a week to Schiphol, began in May this year.

Passengers are now being taken by bus to Edinburgh Airport where their flights are being redirected.

Flybe said the move began on Thursday as part of an "ongoing review of operations".

It was hoped the service, which is subsidised by the Regional Air Connectivity Fund, would provide a tourism boost for the city and surrounding region.

Highlands and Islands Airports Ltd (Hial), which runs Dundee Airport, said it was working with the Flybe to establish how long the rerouting would remain in place.

A Flybe spokeswoman said: "As a result of an ongoing review of operations, Flybe has taken the decision to temporarily operate the above route via Edinburgh Airport with a coach connection to Dundee with effect from Thursday, November 10.

"Flybe is committed to working with Dundee Airport to resolve this as quickly as possible and sincerely apologises to customers for any inconvenience resulting from this disruption.

A spokesman for Dundee Airport said: "Hial can confirm Flybe has taken the decision to temporarily move its Amsterdam flight to Edinburgh Airport.

"The Dundee Airport team is working with the airline to obtain a greater understanding of the timescales involved around the decision and to minimise disruption to passengers during that period."
