Residents were evacuated from their homes after a deliberate blaze at a block of flats.

Fire crews were called to the block on Glenbervie Road, in Grangemouth, on Sunday night.

Police are treating the fire as wilful after a group of youths were seen running from the building after the fire.

Homeowners were forced to leave their flats will the blaze was extinguished. No one was injured.

A statement from Police Scotland said: "This resulted in the fire service having to evacuate residents until the fire was extinguished. Thankfully the fire was contained and no person was injured.

"A group of youths, aged in their mid to late teens, were seen outside the flats as the fire was discovered.

"Subsequent to this, a parked car was damaged on Glenbervie Road and again, a group of young persons are believed responsible.

"A positive line of enquiry is being followed by officers. However, we ask that anyone with more information as to the identity of those involved contact police by calling 101."
