Thirteen people have died after a fire broke out in a Vietnamese karaoke bar.

The blaze quickly spread from the eight-storey building in the country's capital, Hanoi, to nearby restaurants and other karaoke bars.

Firefighters fought the blaze for five hours and have since recovered 13 bodies from the scene.

Vietnamese Prime Minister, Nguyen Xuan Phuc, asked local authorities to search for victims and ordered police to carry out a prompt investigation.
