A teenager has been charged in relation to drugs offences after a boy was left in a coma and three others in hospital.

The incident happened at around 10pm on Friday in Perth when a 15-year-old boy was taken to Ninewells Hospital inDundee after he became unwell while out with friends. He was left in a coma as a result.

Three of his friends were treated at Perth Royal Infirmary and were later discharged.

Officers were looking into the possibility that all four boys may have taken a type of ecstasy tablet and issued a warning about the dangers of taking "unknown substances".

A Police Scotland spokesman said on Sunday night: "Police Scotland can confirm that a 17-year-old from the Perth area has been charged in relation to drugs offences following an incident in Perth over the weekend."

The teenager was expected to appear at Perth Sheriff Court on Monday.
