A brother and sister who died in a suspected 'arson attack' at a house in Birmingham have been named by police as Saros and Leanor Endris.

Saros, 8, and Leanor, 6, died shortly after arriving at hospital yesterday after being found unwell at their home on Holland Road, Hamstead, following reports of a house fire.

According to officials the children's mother, Penil Teklehaimamot, 36, escaped serious injury and is being treated as a witness.

A man in his 40s- who is thought to be the children's father - is reportedly in a critical condition in hospital after being rescued from a car fire in Staffordshire yesterday.

Detective Inspector Justin Spanner, from Force CID, described Friday's events as "an absolutely tragic set of circumstances".
