Firefighters are battling a blaze at an Indian restaurant in Dundee which started in the kitchen.

Crews were called out to Mint Indian tapas bar and restaurant on Perth Road at around 6.55pm on Friday.

Three appliances and one height vehicle were called to the scene after a kitchen fire in the basement travelled through the extraction unit.

Crews, wearing breathing apparatus, managed to get the fire under control shortly after 8pm.

Perth Road was shut to traffic and diversions were put in place.

Firefighters were at the scene until 12.20am on Saturday. The extent of the damage is not yet known.
