A cyclist with an artificial leg launched a racist tirade at a driver.

The man targeted the 28-year-old motorist near the M9 Cash and Carry premises in Grangemouth near Falkirk.

Police Scotland launched an appeal to trace the cyclist after the hate crime in Laurieston Road between 1pm and 1.30pm on Thursday.

The victim was racially abused by a man on a blue bike who had a black dog with him, police said.

Inspector Graham Mackin said "Tackling hate crime is a key priority of Police Scotland. Such incidents can have a huge impact on our communities and will not be tolerated.

"I ask that anyone with information relating to this incident, and in particular recognise the description of the man involved, contact police."

After shouting racist abuse the man cycled away from the scene.

He is described as being in his late 40s, 6ft, of slim build and had a prosthetic leg.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the police on 101.
