Boy, 12, dies after falling from tree during school holidays

A 12-year-old boy has died after falling out of a tree at woodlands in South Ayrshire.
Lachlan MacKenzie was seriously injured after falling at Fullarton Park Woods in Troon on Thursday afternoon.
Emergency services were called to Fullarton estate at around 3.20pm but were unable to save the youngster, who died at the scene.
It is understood the boy, from Muir of Fowlis, Aberdeenshire, had been visiting relatives on the west coast when the accident happened.
A police spokeswoman added: "Around 3.20pm on Thursday, October 20, a 12-year-old boy was seriously injured after falling from a tree in Fullarton Park Woods, Isle of Pin Road, Troon.
"Emergency services attended, however the young boy died at the scene.
"A report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal."
Alford Academy head teacher Moira Milne paid tribute to the first year pupil.
She said: "We are deeply saddened by this news today.
"Lachlan had settled into his first year at Alford Academy very well and this will come as a huge shock to the school and wider community.
"Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this difficult time."
