Motorists have been advised to travel with caution on the A90 after 120 cows escaped from a farm.

The cattle went missing from near Kirriemuir at around 7.15pm on Thursday.

Around half of the missing cattle were rounded up overnight with the assistance of local farmers but a significant number of the cows are milking it and are still unaccounted for.

Police Scotland have advised motorists to take care on the road between Kirriemuir and Forfar and on surrounding rural routes.

Motorists should leave plenty of time for their journeys and are being asked to remain alert and aware when travelling. Efforts are continuing to gather the cows.
