Harry Redknapp's wife recovering after 'freak' car accident
Sandra Redknapp was reportedly dragged along the road after her coat got trapped in a door.
The wife of former Premier League manager Harry Redknapp is recovering after he reportedly dragged her along the road in a 'freak' car accident.
Witnesses said Mr Redknapp, 69, was dropping Sandra, his wife of 49 years, off at the shops when he drove off with her coat trapped in the door.
Speaking outside their home in Sandbanks, Dorset on Friday, Mr Redknapp said she was now "good" after returning home from hospital.
Mr Redknapp, who appeared visibly shaken, told the BBC: "She's fine, it's very lucky. It was a freak accident."
Mrs Redknapp, also 69, was seen on two crutches and with her right leg in a cast as she hobbled into their home wearing a dressing gown.
The accident happened at around 11.45am on Wednesday on Poole Road in Bournemouth.
Witness Denise Wilcox told ITV Meridian: "I came out, saw Harry with his phone to his ear bending over and I was aware that his wife was on the floor because I recognised her red hair from her being in the audience on Strictly.
"There was a policeman bending down attending to her."
In 1990 Mr Redknapp, who has managed Tottenham, Southampton, West Ham and Portsmouth, was seriously injured in a crash near Rome, Italy, that killed his friend Brian Tiler.
