A prisoner who absconded from an open jail has been traced.

David Arthur had been out on a period of temporary leave while serving a sentence at HMP Castle Huntly near Dundee.

Police Scotland confirmed on Thursday that Arthur had been located in Paisley, Renfrewshire.

The 31-year-old had last been seen in Perth on Monday afternoon.

An appeal to trace the prisoner had been launched by police on Tuesday.

Arthur is expected to appear at Perth Sheriff Court later.
