Donald Trump's wife Melania has defended her husband after a video emerged showing him use lewd terms to describe his relationship with women.

Mrs Trump said that the 2005 video "Access Hollywood", in which the billionaire talks about kissing and have sex with women, does not represent "the man I know".

But speaking to Fox News, Mrs Trump, 46, admitted the words her husband used had been "inappropriate and offensive" to her.

In the footage, recorded over 10 years ago, Trump can be heard boasting about his past liaisons, saying: "When you're a star, they let you do it".

"Grab them by the p***y - you can do anything", he adds.

Speaking to Fox's Ainsley Eardhardt on Monday, Mrs Trump said: "Those words, they were offensive to me and they were inappropriate.

"And he apologized to me. And I expect -- I accept his apology. And we are moving on".

She added: "I - this is not the man that I know".

Mrs Trump said the Republican presidential nominee was guilty of "boy talk", but insisted he was egged on by NBC host Billy Bush.

On Monday, Bush left his role on the show, having previously been suspended since the video's emergence.
