Warning over flood risk as severe weather alert issued
Heavy rain is expected in southern Aberdeenshire, Tayside, Dundee and Angus on Saturday.
Motorists have been urged to take care on the roads as heavy rain hits north east Scotland.
A severe weather warning is in place for southern Aberdeenshire, Tayside, Dundee and Angus, and the Met Office has warned of the potential for flooding on Saturday.
Up to 40mm of rainfall is expected to fall widely, with as much as 100mm over eastern hills.
The Met Office reported: "Showers will merge into longer periods of occasionally heavy rain during Friday and again on Saturday across the north east of Scotland.
"This will gradually lift river levels in Tayside, Dundee and Angus, and to a lesser extent Fife and Aberdeenshire, to bring some minor river flooding for Saturday.
"In addition, be aware of the risk of surface water flooding and spray on roads. The rain will gradually clear away to the north later on Saturday."
