Two men attacked by teenage gang who followed them to park
Seven boys carried out the 'unprovoked' assault at Hilltown Park in Dundee on Monday.
Two men were targeted in an "unprovoked attack" by a gang of teenagers who followed them for half a mile to a city park.
Seven boys assaulted the pair at Hilltown Park, Dundee, after spotting them on the Murraygate in the city centre.
Police said the victims, aged 33 and 28, suffered minor injuries in the incident at around 8.30pm on Monday.
The seven suspects who carried out the assault in Caldrum Street are described as being about 14-17 years old and were wearing hooded tops with jogging bottoms.
Sergeant Alex Munro said: "It is understood that the group of young boys were seen in Murraygate earlier in the evening and that they followed their victims to Hilltown Park, where they carried out the assault.
"This was an unprovoked attack and the violent group behaviour demonstrated in this assault could have resulted in serious consequences for the victims. Fortunately both men sustained only minor injuries.
"Police Scotland does not tolerate violence of any kind and we would reassure the public that we are investigating all lines of enquiry in relation to this matter."
Anyone with information is asked to contact the police on 101.
