The so-called Islamic State have confirmed the death of its propaganda chief, whom US officials said was killed last month.

In a statement posted online on Monday, the terror group paid tribute to Wa'il Adil Hasan Salman al-Fayad - also known as Abu Mohammed al Furqan.

Despite officials at the Pentagon claiming al-Fayad was killed in a US-led air-strike in Syria's Raqqa province last month, the statement released on Monday did not say when, where or how he died.
