A motorcyclist suffered serious injuries in a crash with two cars on a country road.

The 30-year-old man, who was riding a black Suzuki motorcycle, was involved in the collision on the A809 Stockiemuir Road in Carbeth, Stirlingshire, on Sunday.

Police said the biker crashed with a blue Honda CRV and a grey Smart car near to Carbeth Fishery at around 2pm.

He suffered serious injuries and has been taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary for treatment. The drivers of the other vehicles were uninjured.

Sergeant Adam Weir said: "We're looking for people who were in the area at the time who witnessed anything to help us establish the full circumstances."

Officers closed the road, which runs from Bearsden in East Dunbartonshire to Drymen, for around five hours as they dealt with the incident.

In 2012, the Road Safety Foundation pressure group named the stretch of the Stockiemuir between Milngavie and Croftamie as the most dangerous road in Scotland because of an increase in serious and fatal collisions recorded on it.

Anyone with information relating to the crash is asked to contact the police on 101.
