A Fife man who has been missing since last week has made contact with police.

Iain Marr, from Anstruther, was last seen on CCTV at a BP petrol station in Colinsburgh shortly before 11am on Wednesday.

A search was launched for the 40-year-old last week before being widened to include Ireland at the weekend.

Police said Mr Marr got in touch with them on Monday.

A Police Scotland spokesperson added: "We can confirm that we have made contact with Iain Marr and he is safe and well.

"He contacted officers today at around 11am. Officers are satisfied that he is safe and that no further investigation is necessary.

"Police would like to thank members of the public and media who participated in the search."
