Police watchdog to investigate death of St Andrews woman
Elizabeth Bowe's brother has been charged with her murder on September 17.
The police watchdog has launched an investigation after the death of a 50-year-old woman.
Elizabeth Bowe was found injured at a flat in Bobby Jones Place in St Andrews on Saturday September 17.
She was taken to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee for treatment but died the following Tuesday.
Ms Bowe's brother, Charles Gordon, has been charged with her murder.
The Police Investigations and Review Commissioner (Pirc) has now been instructed to investigate the police response to the incident.
A spokesman said: "The Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service (Copfs) has instructed the Police Investigations & Review Commissioner to undertake an investigation following the death of a 50-year-old woman in relation to an incident at a property in St Andrews on Saturday September 17, 2016.
"Elizabeth Bowe was taken to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee for treatment but died on Tuesday September 20, 2016. The investigation will focus on the initial police response leading up to the incident.
"A report on the Commissioner's findings will be submitted to the Copfs in due course."
