A rescue operation is underway after rain-saturated hillsides collapsed onto rural villages in south-eastern China.

At least 32 people have been reported missing in Sucun village in Zhejiang province after it was hit on Wednesday.

Twenty-six people are missing, with another six after missing in Baofeng village - also in Zhejiang province.

The landslides were brought by Typhoon Megi, which has already claimed the lives of five people in China and Taiwan.

China's National Meteorological Centre said the typhoon reached speeds of up to 74mph at its height.

Schools and offices have been closed and hundreds of flights in the area have been cancelled.
