Scottish Olympic medallists celebrated at homecoming party
Crowds expected to turn out in Edinburgh on Wednesday to mark the athletes' return.
Sports fans will gather in Edinburgh to get a glimpse of Scotland's Olympic and Paralympic stars.
More than 50 athletes are due to turn out at the city's Festival Square to celebrate their Olympic success.
The event on Wednesday afternoon will follow a private reception at the new Oriam sports performance centre earlier in the day.
Home-grown medallists including cyclist Callum Skinner, slalom canoeist David Florence and rower Heather Stanning will mingle with fans for around an hour in the open-air event.
The city centre celebrations were planned by the city council and sportscotland after Lord Provost Donald Wilson called for a "public show of appreciation" for Scotland's medallists and athletes.
Later that evening, the sports men and women will be the guests of honour at the Team Scotland Scottish Sports Awards at the nearby Edinburgh International Conference Centre.
Councillor Richard Lewis, the city's culture and sport convener, said the event would be a chance for fans to mark the "outstanding" achievements.
He said: "The Festival Square celebrations will offer an opportunity for fans to meet the athletes, get their photos and autographs and ultimately inspire a new generation of sporting stars to follow in their footsteps."
