Couples often treat their wedding car as a centrepiece of their nuptials, choosing quirky modes of transport from horse-drawn carriages to vintage VW vans.

But one Scots couple set a new standard when they loaded their wedding party onto a bright red open-top tour bus.

After reciting their vows at in July this year, besotted Katie Mone and Jonathan McCall surprised their friends and relatives with the City Sightseeing bus outside St Mirin's Cathedral in Paisley.

The party were then transported - along with the newlyweds - to the reception at Kirknewton House Stabels, West Lothian.

They are the first bride and groom to travel on a Glasgow City Sightseeing tour bus on their special day.

Katie had her heart set on booking a tour bus for the big day after her husband Jonathan McCall proposed to her in a similar setting while they were on holiday in Dublin.

Katie said: "The bus holds a very special place in both our hearts and was the obvious choice for transport on our wedding day. It was the first thing we booked.

"When Jonathan proposed in Dublin it was a huge surprise. We had been to America and I did wonder if he would propose then, but it never happened.

"Most people knew how he proposed so it was a lovely surprise and a really special way to travel to the reception with our closest friends and family."

The couple who both work for an airline at Glasgow Airport have travelled around some of the biggest cities in the world, including New York and Las Vegas.

It seemed apt that travel be a theme woven into their special day - although Jonathan had to throw Katie off the scent when it came to the romantic proposal.

Jonathan said: "I had wanted to propose for a while but always felt when we went on holiday on our own Katie was expecting it to happen.

"So when planning Dublin I invited some friends to put Katie off the scent. It worked and thankfully she said yes."
