Buskers have been moved on after s****taff at a council helpline for vulnerable people struggled to hear callers.

Stirling Council's Mobile Emergency Care Service (Mecs) directs emergency responders to people in the community who require immediate help or assistance.

Noise caused by musicians outside the service's Port Street offices means workers have been unable to hear emergency calls.

Stirling Council is now acting on their complaints and moving the buskers along if they play too loudly.

The authority has also launched a consultation to investigate ways to ensure busking is carried out at "appropriate locations".

A spokesman said: "Officers are currently exploring ways to ensure all busking activities are sensibly carried out and in appropriate locations, to ensure that residents and visitors have an excellent experience in our city centre.

"We are also trying to discourage buskers and singers from playing outside the Customer First shop as this has been causing problems for the council's Mecs operators to hear emergency calls.

"Our enforcement officers have been asking some people to move or turn down their amplifier if we have had complaints."
