Welcome to Scotland from the Roadside, a weekly gallery showcasing some of the best images from around the country taken by you.

From opportune moments shot on smartphones to breathtaking landscapes captured in high definition, each week we share a selection of interesting pictures taken by people on their travels around Scotland.

We've partnered up with the Scotland from the Roadside Facebook group, a popular destination for trading photos and stories, which has drawn in more than 86,000 members and 500,000 images to date.

Each Friday, we ask the page's creators, Bruce Philip and Linda Curran, to select their favourite photographs from the week gone by.

This week, Bruce and Linda return from their well deserved break to showcase the best of Scotland as captured by you.

Edinburgh Close by Ally Deans

"I've always loved the sense of history you get when visiting our capital and all the closes, nooks and crannies just add to the sense of exploration enjoyment.

"It seems around every corner and down every street there's countless opportunities to apply your take on sights through photographs and I for one enjoyed every minute.

"When I saw this close I just had to take the shot and the people walking just added to the thought provoking sense of exploration of the photo."

On the Clyde by Googie Withers

"This is the view from my front window, overlooking the Clyde. The boat in the photo is the MV Hebridean Princess, a cruise ship operated by Hebridean Island Cruises.

"She started life as the MacBrayne car ferry and Royal Mail Ship, initially RMS then MV Columba, based in Oban for the first 25 years of her life, carrying up to 600 passengers, and 50 cars, between the Scottish islands."

March across Stirling Bridge by Charles Mcguigan‎

"It was a march to commemorate the Battle of Stirling Bridge that took place on 1297.

"The march started from The Wallace Monument in Stirling to the Bridge. I walked across to the road bridge to allow me to capture a shot with the flags, the bridge and the Wallace Monument."

Ardvreck Castle on Loch Assynt by Andrew L Black‎

"I am a Glaswegian now living in Canada. We visit Scotland whenever we can and try and tour around to places we have never seen in Scotland.

"We were touring around the Drumbeg loop and came across the castle with the mountain as a backdrop."

Scotland's weather in one image by Blair Mchattie‎

"I live two towns away from Burntisland in Kirkcaldy and the docks in Burntisland where the shot was taken is one of my fave locations to take photos."

The Colours of Harvest by Tony Kerfoot‎

"The pic attracted me because of the colours, the detail of the subject matter and because it reflects the changing country seasons. It was also right next to the road.

"It was taken on an iPhone 6. Because I'm unable now to walk distance, I take roadside pics of the scenery near to me in rural Perthshire."

Looking into my Soul by Evelyn Grant‎

"This photo was a bit of good fortune. I was at the Kingston side of Spey Bay, sitting on the shingle enjoying the birds, the sun and the day. The camera was in the bag. I heard a noise and looked down to see this seal hauling itself out no more than 20 metres away.

"I was torn between just watching and taking some pictures. The 'eye' was the only sign of disturbance as I got the camera out and took some pictures."

The Squinty Bridge at night by Ross Bingham‎

"I have only recently taken up photography properly and decided to try my hand at taking some night shots of an iconic Glasgow landmark.

"Someone was letting off fireworks nearby and managed to time each of them perfectly between my shots, so I missed out unfortunately."

Sunset in Stornoway by Anne-Marie

"This is the view I have from the bottom of my drive. I enjoy taking photos when I can, on our island we are very lucky with our scenery."
