Apple users are reporting problems downloading the new iOS 10 software update saying it is leaving their devices "useless".

Many iPhone and iPad owners are saying the update has rendered their devices "useless" after accepting the update.

Users report their phones being wiped and having to restore them from back-ups.

The problem has occurred when people download the update "over-the-air" rather than plugging their devices into a computer.

Apple have tweeted urging users to update from iTunes.
