Four construction workers posed for a nausea-inducing photo from atop a spire 1,099 feet above the ground in Los Angeles.

The Wilshere Grand was completed on Saturday, and after it was finished, the ironworkers who made the spire for the building scrambled to the top to pose for the death-defying and iconic picture.

Spokeswoman Leigh Kramer said: "Saturday's completion of the 294-foot, 9-inch spire marks a milestone achievement in the construction of the Wilshire Grand tower - now officially the tallest building west of the Mississippi."

The men climbed an internal maintenance ladder to reach the top, and were attached by harnesses to the inside and outside of the building.

The tower is expected to be open to the public early next year.
