Passenger plane diverted to Iceland after 'mechanical issue'

A passenger plane has made an emergency landing in Iceland because of a suspected mechanical fault.
The Boeing 767 was flying from London to Edmonton, Canada when crew discovered a "potential mechanical issue".
The jet landed safely at Keflavik Airport after taking off from Gatwick airport on Saturday morning.
A spokesperson for Canadian airline WestJet said an emergency was declared "out of an abundance of caution" and the aircraft will undergo maintenance in Iceland.
