Seven Scottish drinks festivals to whet your appetite this autumn
From gin to whisky, there are plenty of different drinks festivals taking place this autumn.
As summer comes to an end, so does festival season. The tents are packed away, sound systems taken into storage and festive bunting folded up until next year.
But if you're missing your festival fix, standing in a field sipping a pint of craft ale or a Scottish gin and tonic then fear not - drinks festivals are back and better than ever for autumn.
From an event all about single malts to a celebration of the juniper berry, there are still plenty of ways for you to get your festival fix as the seasons change. Here's seven of the top drinks festivals heading to Scotland over the next few months.
Juniper Festival
Having enjoyed three years in Edinburgh, The Juniper Festival is heading to Glasgow on September 10, showcasing the best of Scotland's buoyant gin scene as well as the Merchant City's very own
A mix of Scottish and UK-wide gin brands will be available to try at the festival, with Glasgow gin Makar on offer alongside Eden Mill, Strathearn and Minus 33.
Top Scottish tonic brands Walter Gregor and Bon Accord will also be available to top up glasses of mothers ruin at the event which will be held at the SWG3 venue in the city.
Tickets can be purchased for one of two sessions on the day - 12pm to 4pm and 5.30pm to 10pm.
Oktoberfest
If your idea of the perfect drinks festival also happens to include fancy dress, then the return of autumnal beer festival Oktoberfest will be right up your street.
Stopping off in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen, fans of Bavarian beer can enjoy massive steins of the stuff and have a laugh with traditional music, food and the chance to dress up in Dirndl and Lederhosen.
Oktoberfest will head to Edinburgh's Princes Street Gardens from October 5 to 9, Aberdeen's Castlegate from October 12 to 16 and Glasgow's Blythswood Square from October 19 to 23.
Spirit of Speyside
If Scotland's national drink is a little more appealing than beer or gin, then you'll be pleased to know that a brand new celebration of all things whisky will be arriving in Elgin from September 10 to 11.
With a splash of whisky, a good dose of gin, plenty of beer and a final flourish of cocktails, there will be plenty to whet your appetite with at the Spirit of Speyside.
The festival will also offer some exclusive masterclasses, mini mixology sessions, food and drink pairings and the chance to be one of the first to test as yet unreleased single malts and local gins.
Spirit of Speyside: Distilled takes place at Elgin Town Hall on September 10 from 1pm until 5pm and again from 7 until 11pm, with the final session the following day from 12pm until 4pm.
Edinburgh Rum Olympics
If beer or gin festivals aren't quite up your street but you still want to celebrate a certain tipple, then the Edinburgh Rum Olympics will be right up your street.
Running until September 25, five bars across the city will be offering four different secret rums for you to order with a score card. Sharing with a partner is encouraged, and you will score each out of ten on the basis of aroma, taste and finish to help the bars pick the best rum in the city.

Inverurie Beer Festival
The perfect mix of drinks if you're not exactly sure what you fancy, the Inverurie Beer Festival returns to the north-east following a successful celebration of beers, ciders and gins last year.
With more than 30 beers, six gins, six, ciders and Scotland's first rum Dark Matter available to sample, there is plenty of choice on offer for the indecisive drinker.
But if that's not enough, there's also a prosecco bar for those who fancy a glass of bubbles with their burger.
With live music and food from local vendors also on offer, the drinks festival will return to Thainstone Exchange on September 23 and 24.
Science of Food and Drink
Always wondered about the science that goes into creating a dram or why certain foods pair better with different types of wine? Then head to Aberdeen Science Centre, who are hosting an adult takeover evening on September 16 with a food and drink twist.
Learn about the science behind chocolate and sample some products from local food and drink producers.
And if you bring along a bottle of milkshake, the team at Aberdeen Science Centre will show you how to make your own ice cream.

Craft Beer Revolution Festival
Aiming to showcase the best beers which Scotland, the UK and parts of Europe have to offer, the inaugural Craft Beer Revolution Festival plans to kick things off with its own signature brew - a slightly spicy double red rye IPA.
The brainchild of beer-loving friends Richard Servranckx and Dan Quille, the festival will kick off on November 24 to 26 at Edinburgh's Assembly Roxy with beers from breweries ranging from Up Front, Panda Frog Project and Parisis and entertainment including a daily pub quiz, relay races and an online playlist punters can add to.
Street food will be served up by Scoff, The Buffalo Truck and Glasgow's Babu Bombay Street Kitchen, as Cleaver & Keg charcuterie trolleys will meander around the festival offering cured meats to pair with the beers available.
And at the end of the evening the Craft Beer Revolution glass, which punters can fill up with the 60 beers on offer during the event, will be free all to take home as a keepsake.
