Teenager turned CS spray on police officer in disturbance
Liam Thomson, 19, temporarily blinded a police officer while resisting arrest.
A teenager attacked and hospitalised a police officer with his own CS spray after wrestling it from him and spraying it in his face.
Liam Thomson, 19, admitted grabbing the officer's spray and turning it on him as they tried to arrest him.
Perth Sheriff Court was told that PC Mark Donnan had to be taken to Perth Royal Infirmary after being temporarily blinded during the fracas at Thomson's home.
Fiscal depute Stuart Richardson said neighbours had complained of a disturbance at the flat but when police turned up they were refused entry.
Mr Richardson said Kayleigh Coyle came and opened the door slightly and they informed her they would need to come in and check everything was alright.
The prosecutor said at first she refused to let them in but Thompson opened the door further which allowed the officers to come in.
He said: "Everything just kicked off from there. It was all to do with the police entering the house. The shouting and swearing continued.
"They were told they were going to be detained. A struggle began. Thomson punched the male police officer on the body, and things were getting out of hand, to be quite frank.
"PC Donnan told Thomson that if he didn't calm down he would be sprayed with CS spray. The officer used the spray. He held it up and discharged it into Thomson's face.
"He didn't calm down though. Thomson reached out and managed to get hold of the canister and turned it around and sprayed CS spray into the officer's face.
"Other officers turned up then and matters were brought to an end."
Thomson was fined a total of £400 for the assault and £100 for resisting arrest during the incident on June 26.
Coyle, 18, had her sentence deferred for good behaviour after admitting to struggling violently and acting in a threatening or abusive manner.
Solicitor Pauline Cullerton, defending, said: "If he had opened the door when requested it might not have reached the stage it did."
