A missing 83-year-old man with dementia is fighting for his life in hospital after being found in woods near a canal.
Henry Patterson, 83, from Bishopbriggs, was last seen in the East Dunbartonshire town on Balmuildy Road at Hilton Terrace at 1pm on Monday.
His family and police launched a search after becoming extremely concerned for his well-being as he suffers from dementia and does not normally leave the house on his own.
Mr Patterson was found on Thursday by specialist search officers within a highly dense wooded area near to the canal and Cawder golf club in Bishopbriggs.
He was taken to the Glasgow Royal Infirmary by ambulance for treatment where medical staff describe his condition as critical.
Chief Inspector Craig Smith, local area commander said: "I would like to thank everyone who took the time to share our posts to help find Mr Patterson.
"Unfortunately due to the length of time he has been missing and his age, he was found very unwell and is currently within hospital receiving treatment.
"Mr Patterson's family are grateful for the help and support they've received from the local community and beyond."
