A 16-year-old boy who went missing from Anstruther has been found safe and well.

Liam Elston failed to return home on Thursday.

However, on Monday police confirmed he had been traced.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland thanked the public for their help in sharing the appeal.

They said: "Liam Elston, who was reported missing from Anstruther on Thursday, September 1, has now been found safe and well.

"Officers would like to thank those members of the public and media who participated in the search."
