It's already famous for forcing customers to build their own furniture and now IKEA plans to get visitors to its newest restaurant to cook their own dinner as well.

The Swedish chain store plans to open a new concept 'do-it-yourself' restaurant as it extends its flat-pack ethos into the kitchen.

Diners who manage to snap up a free ticket to the pop-up "dining club" will be able to invite a group of up to 19 friends to cook a tasty meal under the supervision of a trained chef.

They will be able to choose from a selection of menus - naturally including some Scandinavian options.

The temporary restaurant in Shoreditch, East London, will also host a series of workshops including a session from the Symmetry Breakfast blog and Great British Bake Off winner Edd Kimber.

It will take bookings from 10-25 September and tickets are available at the IKEA dining club page.
