A search has been launched for a vulnerable 57-year-old woman missing in Glasgow.

Ann Mathieson, who suffers from a brain condition, was last seen at around 3.30pm on Thursday on Cathcart Road after leaving the New Victoria Hospital on Grange Road in the south side of the city.

She was in the company of her sister following a check-up at the hospital when she disappeared. Her family searched the local area but were unable to locate her.

Police said Ms Mathieson, from Pollok, may appear confused or act in a child-like manner as a result of her condition which has symptoms similar to dementia.

She is described at 5ft 4in in height, of a medium buildm with short dark hair.

She was last seen wearing a white shirt, dark jeans and light blue shoes. She also had a purple waterproof jacket draped over a black handbag.

Inspector Donald Stewart, Cathcart Police office, said tonight: "There are real concerns for Ann given her vulnerability as a result of her condition.

"Given the length of time she has been missing for, we have expanded our search beyond the immediate area of Cathcart, Battlefield and Mount Florida.

"CCTV images have indicated that she may have been heading north on Cathcart Road. Officers are also searching into the City Centre. We are speaking to local business owners and continuing to analyse CCTV to trace Ann safe and well.

"Extensive searches and enquiries are ongoing to trace Ann and I would urge anyone who has seen her, or who has information on her whereabouts to contact Cathcart Police office on 101."
