A woman has been charged with stealing a pensioner's bank card and spending more than £11,000 on his account.

Rona Macdonald is alleged to have taken 77-year-old David Bowman's bank card on various occasions between August 2013 and May 2015.

She appeared at Dundee Sheriff Court on Wednesday, charged with stealing the card from an address in the city's St Matthews Lane.

The 29-year-old is said to have used it at bank branches, cash machines and shops across the city over a period of almost two years, withdrawing amounts varying between £21.95 and £1590.

The total amount allegedly stolen from the pensioner was £11,430.20.

Macdonald, of Happyhillock Walk, Dundee, denied a total of 19 charges of theft.

Sheriff Lorna Drummond QC set a trial date in November and ordered Macdonald to appear at a pre-trial hearing in October.
