Stick the kettle on, artfully arrange a packet of biscuits on a plate and turn off your phone - The Great British Bake Off is back.

The hit baking show, which pits 12 amateur bakers against each other under the watchful eye of Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood and joke-cracking duo Mel and Sue, returns to television screens on Wednesday evening for its seventh series.

Sadly, there are no Scots to root for in this year's competition, so naturally we rose to the challenge and sifted out some of our favourite Scottish contestants from the past seven years.
