New build home destroyed by fire at Dundee housing estate
The house, which was still under construction, was consumed by the blaze on Monday night.
A house which was under construction has been destroyed in a fire at a Dundee housing estate.
Emergency crews were called to the scene just after 7.30pm on Monday to reports of a building on fire at Lewis Terrace in the Mill O'Mains area of the city.
On arrival firefighters found a single-storey timber-framed house under construction on fire with a further two adjacent timber-framed properties damaged by the blaze.
Police confirmed that no one was injured and that there is to be an inquiry into the cause of the fire which is not yet known at this time.
A Scottish Fire and Rescue spokesman said: "We received several calls at 7.33pm to a building under construction on fire at Lewis Terrace, Mill O'Mains in Dundee.
"Two appliances attended from Kingsway fire station. When we got there it was a single-storey timber-framed house which was under construction on fire and there was a further two adjacent properties also of timber-frames under construction which were partially involved in the fire.
"All fires were extinguished by 8.20pm. We made the scene safe and dampened down hot spots.
"One appliance is still in attendance as a precaution due to it being a timber-framed building, so that will remain there for the next few hours."
