A lorry driver has appeared in court charged with causing the death of a motorist by dangerous driving.

Glenn Craib is accused of killing Witold Solski, 65, in a crash on the A90 dual carriageway near Stracathro in Angus last year.

Mr Solski, of Dundee, died at the roadside following the crash on November 25.

Craib, 45, of Elgin, appeared on petition at Forfar Sheriff Court charged with causing death by dangerous driving.

The HGV driver made no plea or declaration and his case was continued for further examination.

Mr Solski was cut free from the wreckage of his Skoda by firefighters but was pronounced dead at the scene.

He was driving between Forfar and Brechin when the collision took place on the northbound carriageway near the Careston/Balnabreich junction.

A 30-year-old female passenger in the car was taken to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee but was not seriously injured.
