Exhausted mother thanks Aldi worker for 'beautiful' gesture
Australian Ashley Holmes was handed a bunch of flowers after her son had a tantrum.
A mother has praised an Aldi supermarket worker who surprised her with a bunch of flowers after her three-year-old son had a tantrum in the store.
Ashley Holmes, from New South Wales in Australia, took to Facebook to write the 'appreciation post' in response to "Shannon's" kind gesture.
"My 3-year-old son, decided he would have a full blown meltdown. Totally lost his marbles! Screaming fit, tantrum," Ms Holmes wrote.
"I had my 6-year-old son with me too & a full trolley of groceries so I couldn't just do that 'Drop & Run' that, let's face it, all us parents have done once or twice in our parenting years."
The mother-of two added that many customers were "whispering and glaring" at her but she "persevered".
After paying for her shopping and rushing to her car, Ms Holmes then noticed a staff member approaching her.
"In complete exhaustion, embarrassment and utter disappointment, a lady in an Aldi uniform came walking towards me. I thought "argh, what now?".
But to Ms Holmes' surprise she received flowers and kind words of reassurance.
Ms Holmes said the gesture brought her to tears: "That was so beautiful. I wanted to just show my honest appreciation."
The supermarket worker has since been identified as Shannon Maybury, who has been hailed a "special lady" by people who have commented on Ms Holmes post.
She also commented on the post and said she "just wanted to put a smile" on the flustered mother's face.
