Excluded Mormon threatened to repeat Dunblane massacre
James Lynn-Wilson was in court to be sentenced for threatening to slaughter a church congregation.
An excommunicated Mormon made threats to repeat the Dunblane massacre while in court.
James Lynn-Wilson's outburst came as he appeared for sentence for threatening to slaughter a Scottish church congregation and execute an elder.
At Stirling Sheriff Court on Wednesday, he said: "I'll be punishing the children of Dunblane again" after being told he could not be sentenced without an assessment of the risk he poses to society.
Although a psychiatric report on Lynn-Wilson was available, the court was told a risk assessment had not been completed because he had become "upset and angry" when a social worker visited him in jail.
The court earlier heard Lynn-Wilson, 43, from Denny, Stirlingshire, had threatened he was going to execute a Stephen Kerr, a church elder and Conservative election candidate.
He gave the Church of the Latter-day Saints 48 hours to hand him over or face a massacre.
There was a "history" of animosity by Lynn-Wilson, who was excommunicated from the Church in 2004 for "conduct unbecoming" towards Mr Kerr.
The court heard Lynn-Wilson began to bombard Mr Kerr's home in Bridge of Allan, Stirlingshire, with phone calls, on February 16 despite a live Court of Session interdict preventing him from communicating with any member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, including the Kerr family.
Speaking to Mr Kerr's son, Lynn-Wilson mentioned a forthcoming meeting at their local church in Alloa, Clackmannanshire, and made a reference to the Dunblane massacre.
A short time later, Lynn-Wilson rang the Church's global security operations centre in Salt Lake City, Utah, which church officials recorded.
Prosecutor Sarah Lumsden said: "He said if 'Brother Kerr' was not 'released' from the Church within 48 hours he would go into a church to execute members.
"Lynn-Wilson had said: 'Next step is to be like the Dunblane massacre. Walk into the church and blow people's heads off. I am going to execute one of your church members'.
"He was arrested, taken to a local hospital for a psychiatric assessment, and deemed fit to be detained."
Sentence was deferred until August 31 for the risk assessment to be completed.
