Donald Trump has sparked outrage yet again after he appeared to imply that the use of guns might be an adequate response to Hillary Clinton's selection of supreme court justices.

During a rally in North Carolina, Trump said "second amendment people" could prevent Hillary Clinton from choosing judges.

The second amendment of the US Constitution is the right to bear arms.

He was pointing out the differences between himself and Clinton when he said: "Hillary wants to essentially abolish the Second Amendment.

"If she gets to pick her judges, there's nothing you can do, folks. Although the Second Amendment people, maybe there is. I don't know."

After the rally, Hillary Clinton's campaign manager released a statement saying what Trump said is "dangerous".

"A person seeking to be the President of the United States should not suggest violence in any way," the statement said.

Trump's senior communications advisor also released a statement: "It's called the power of unification - 2nd Amendment people have amazing spirit and are tremendously unified, which gives them great political power. And this year, they will be voting in record numbers, and it won't be for Hillary Clinton, it will be for Donald Trump."

Trump's comments have been criticised widely on social media for being an "assassination threat".
