An appeal has been made to trace a woman reported missing after phoning in sick five days previously.

Katrin Sepp last spoke to friends via text message on Wednesday, having called her work on Monday.

Police attended the 32-year-old's home on Drum Brae Walk on Thursday to find she was not there and she has not been seen since.

Ms Sepp, who is originally from Estonia, has not made any further contact with family or friends.

Sergeant Stewart Massie said Ms Sepp's English is excellent, while she knows Edinburgh very well.

"She is also a keen walker and may look to utilise public transport to travel outside the city to go on hikes.

"As such we would ask anyone who believes they may have seen her to contact us immediately.

"I would also ask that Katrin makes contact with family, friends or with police to let us know she's alright."

She is described as 5ft 8in, of medium build with long dark hair. It is not known what clothes she was wearing when she went missing.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101.
