The American woman stabbed to death in London's Russell Square has been named as Darlene Horton.
The 64-year-old was the wife of a university professor from Florida who was hours away from flying home when she was attacked.
Florida State University said her husband psychology scholar Richard Wagner was teaching summer classes and she had accompanied him on the trip.
The couple were due to fly home to Tallahassee on Thursday.
