A couple who cloned their beloved dead dog have finally brought his puppies home following a £67,000 process.

Delighted Richard Remde and Laura Jaques finally picked up Shadow and Chance after the puppies spent six months in quarantine following their flight to the UK from South Korea.

The controversial process was something the couple just "had to do", following the death of their boxer Dylan who died from a brain tumour.

In order to get the "completely priceless" puppies, the North Yorkshire couple sent cells from Dylan to the South Korean Sooam Biotech Research Foundation in Seoul where his DNA was extracted to produce two identical puppies.

This DNA was implanted into a blank egg, which was then given electric shocks to trigger cell division and later implanted into a surrogate dog.

The pair were thrilled three months later when they discovered the surrogate was pregnant. The puppies were born in December.

The couple made several trips to South Korea, including a special visit to see the puppies being born and to try and bond with them.

Having finished their six months quarantine in South Korea, the puppies are now in the UK.

Following the death of eight-year-old Dylan the couple looked into different options so that they would not have to part with him.
