Prisoner writes police glowing review of stay in cells
The woman wrote: 'It's the first time I ever had respect for the police.'
Normally prisoners can't wait to get out the cells, but one inmate was so impressed with how police officers treated her she wrote them a letter to thank them.
The female inmate, who spent two nights Cheadle Heath Custody Suite in Stockport , said she had been shown "respect and dignity" by staff.
She added despite "many weekend bang ups", "it's the first time I ever had respect for the police".
Superintendent Chris Hankinson said: "People end up in custody for a number of different reasons and many are often in a very vulnerable state.
"Our priority is to ensure they get the support they need and staff work tirelessly in incredibly difficult circumstances to achieve this.
"I'm grateful this lady took the time to thank the staff and I hope her next encounter with Greater Manchester Police is equally as pleasant, but on the right side of the custody door."
The woman was later charged with theft and breaching bail.
