North Korean ballistic missile lands in Japanese waters
Japan's Prime Minister Shinzo Abe called the missile launch an 'unforgivable act of violence'.
North Korea has launched a medium-range ballistic missile which landed in Japanese waters.
The missile, believed to be a Rodong, flew about 620 miles and landed inside Japan's exclusive economic zone, the 200-nautical-mile offshore area.
The US Strategic Command confirmed two missiles were launched - one of them exploded immediately after takeoff, while the second was tracked over North Korea and into the Sea of Japan.
North Korea has previously fired Rodong and other missiles into the sea but South Korean analysts said Wednesday's flight was one of the longest.
Japan's Prime Minister Shinzo Abe strongly condemned the launch.
The launch is the first one Pyongyang has conducted since last month, when North Korea fired three missiles which landed in the sea.
