Work to repair a Dundee road damaged by recent heavy rainfall is under way.

A manhole on Polepark Road at its junction with Edward Street has now been repaired by Scottish Water but the road surface is still in need of work.

Tayside Contracts will lay a new surface on behalf of Dundee City Council this week before the road can be fully reopened.

Ruaridh MacGregor, of Scottish Water, said: "The sheer volume of water during the storm meant the manhole was badly damaged.

"A CCTV survey was carried out and contractors working for Scottish Water completed repairs ready for Dundee City Council to resurface the road.

"Scottish Water and Dundee City Council are working in partnership to minimise disruption to local residents.

"The public are thanked for their patience during the work."
