Nine people have been killed after an attack on a security facility in Somalia, police have said.

Suspected militants from the Islamist group al-Shabaab carried out the attack on the Central Investigations Department (CID) in the capital Mogadishu, Captain Mohamed Hussein said.

He said two gunmen forced their way into the complex after two suicide car bombs detonated at the gates of the facility, and confirmed four attackers we among the dead.

Ali Hassan, a CID policeman, said security forces foiled the attack and killed the gunmen.
