Belgian police have arrested two men suspected of planning an attack in Belgium, according to federal prosecutors.

The men, named as 33-year-old Nourredine H. and his brother Hamza H. were detained after police conducted a house raid on Friday evening.

Police conducted seven house searches in the region of Mons and a further search in Liege, the federal prosecution office said in a statement.

No weapons or explosives were found.

The two men will appear before a judge on Saturday to determine whether they should be held in custody beyond the initial 24-hour period.
