A 16-year-old who stabbed a man to death during a row over a "fit" girl has been jailed for life.

Haris Mohammed pulled a butterfly knife on Tom Webb, 22, a former binman, after his friend allegedly made the remark about the woman.

Mr Webb was confronted alongside two friends by Mohammed in Derby town centre at 8.30pm on January 19 this year.

Despite being treated at the scene, Mr Webb died approximately an hour later.

Convicted of murder, Mohammed was jailed for life and ordered to serve a minimum of 14 years custody at Nottingham Crown Court on Friday.

Mr Webb had been walking through the centre of Derby with two friends, one who allegedly made a remark about a girl being "fit", when they were confronted by four boys.

Having fetched Mohammed, the 16-year-old stabbed Mr Webb after the latter said Mohammed would not use the knife.

During trial, Mohammed claimed self-defence, but a jury took less than four hours to convict him.
