A man tried to have a stun gun, a baton and a blowgun, a weapon most associated with indigenous South American tribes, posted to his home in Dundee.

Mark Coutts's package was intercepted by customs agents at Stansted Airport.

It contained a stun gun, an extendable baton similar to those used by police and a blowgun bound for his flat on Forest Park Road.

Blowguns usually use darts that are sent flying by the user blowing into the pipe.

Coutts, 37, pleaded guilty to importing goods contrary to a prohibition or restriction.

Fiscal depute Alan Kempton told Dundee Sheriff Court: "He has no previous convictions.

"He is a student at Dundee and Angus College.

"The items were intercepted at Stansted Airport and the offence thereafter came to light.

"The items have been seized."

Sheriff Lorna Drummond QC deferred sentence until next month.
