Two police officers have been shot San Diego, detectives said.

An "active search" for the suspects is "underway" following the shooting overnight, the city's police department said on twitter.

It added that the condition of the officers shot is "unknown".

Residents in the area surrounding 3800 Boston have been advised to stay indoors.
